POKOTABI / IAN
IAN
Set in a Nihonbashi-Honcho basement, IAN offers an extensive wall-to-wall selection of whiskies, single malts, and cocktails around a quiet counter.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Descending two flights of stairs to the second basement level and opening the door reveals an expansive wall covered edge-to-edge in bottles of spirits. Located in a corner of Nihonbashi-Honcho, IAN is a shot bar well worth seeking out to explore a diverse spectrum of whiskies. The shelves span peated Islay single malts, aged vintage bottles, and Japanese whiskies, featuring distinct bottlings from the same distilleries alongside independent label releases.
There is no need to feel intimidated by the sheer volume of bottles; sharing your preferred region, aroma, or current mood across the counter will prompt well-suited recommendations. Drinks can be savored however you like best, whether served neat or over ice. Beyond whisky, the bar also serves beer, wine, and cocktails like gin and tonics, making it straightforward to start light or switch directions.
Anchored by an L-shaped counter, the space maintains a calm atmosphere well suited to nursing a drink on your own. It serves as a dependable stop whether you want a quiet post-dinner nightcap or an unpretentious look into the deeper corners of malt whisky.
